The Ultimizers DD-500GB High-Speed Cut-Off Saw, also referred to as the Duo-Drive 500GB, is an advanced cutting machine engineered to maximize production and efficiency. Its signature feature is a patented top and bottom conveyor belt that grips the boards on both sides, providing exceptional hold that resists slippage. These belts are independently operated by separate servo motors and direct gearboxes to deliver significant horsepower. This unique design allows for feed rates that are faster than previous models, with acceleration to full speed measured in milliseconds and rapid cutting cycles operating as fast as 130 milliseconds. To ensure high precision and clean operation, the saw uses an encoder near the blade for highly accurate measurements and employs high-pressure air blow-off jets to remove waste immediately as the wood is cut. For optimized control and smooth operation at extreme speeds, the machine includes an additional servo motor for arbor crank actuation and a servo-controlled blade motor that gives the user complete command over cut speeds and quality. Finally, operators manage the system through large, Windows-based touch screen controls that feature comprehensive on-screen diagnostics for all sensors, valves, and drives.

  • 3 Point Grip System:The Duo-Drive features dual conveyor belts positioned above and below the board. Each is independently servo-driven via direct-drive precision gearboxes, which eliminates main drive wear items. These motors are digitally tethered to ensure synchronized positioning while maintaining full, balanced torque. By sandwiching the board through the cut zone, this design provides industry-leading traction.
  • Servo Controlled Positioning: An overhead encoder positioning system uses a separate encoder to ensure accurate positioning of the material as it is fed through the saw. Comparing encoder counts from the servo motor and this encoder improves accuracy over other saws.
  • Servo Controlled Blade Actuation: The arbor is hardened alloy, timing belt driven, and powered by a servo. Adjustments to the speed of the cut pattern are simple and made at the touch screen controller. This allows the saw blade speed and the cut quality to be optimized to suit the material.
  • Control System:A sophisticated control system, designed and manufactured in house, controls the whole line. All functions of the infeed, outfeed, and the saw can be made at the operator's terminal.
  • Touch Screen Controller:The operator's controller is included on the machine. This controller includes a touch screen and operational push buttons. The operator can adjust everything from cut lists, functions, diagnostics, and parameters of the whole line. It is network compatible to allow access from the office or by a technician.
  • Waste Removal System: The Duo-Drive features a waste drop-roll system designed to remove waste pieces under 5 inches. Because shorter offcuts are a primary cause of jamming in optimizing saws and sorting mis-sorts, we developed dropping roll paddles on both sides of the blade. These paddles retract just before the cut, allowing the waste to be cleared immediately upon completion, which prevents jams and ensures efficient operation. Waste over 5" long travels down the sorter to the waste blow off.
